Carp problem in Upper Coomera River

    Hi Everyone

It seems apart from flathead, all I am catching are 25cm size carp in the river above the freeway bridge to the weir...

I read there is a similar problem in the Logan river.

Is this situation only going to get worse ? Maybe a carp competition could help ?

And, should I kill the carp and not return it to the water ?

    Cheers

    David,

In Queensland, all strains of carp are declared noxious species. It is unlawful to possess them alive or dead and use them as bait. It is illegal to place or release carp into Queensland waterways. Penalties of up to $150 000 apply.

Check out the Fisheries Web site.

You should not return any of the carp you catch.

I am pretty sure the law forbids returning carp to the river
