Blue throat wrasse/Tamar river Tassie
Who can help??
Just moved to Tassie and trying to work out the fishing in the Tamar, I am chasing some advise... Also Blue throat wrasse, have caught plenty and wondering what they are like as a table fish? Obviously haven't tasted one yet as I have heard varying reports.

Hi Benno
Theres better fish to eat, had some cooked by mates wife once, she was thai, it was good, better with a feed of flathead, salmon, tailor, snapper, gummy, kingies. They are also known as kelpies. they are sold to japan as life fish (they eat any thing).
your in a good spot up there for some nice kingies and snapper.
cheers

i used to live in tassie...and fished the tamar a bit...you should try around the batman bridge for snapper...i dont remember what time of yeah it was to fish for em but most of the fish that i saw caught and caught my self were all huge...i saw one that went at least 15kg. but you have o fish heavy...10 -15 kg line minimum 20 lb fire line would be a good starting point...
about the blue throat wrass...youd be better off eating the cod that you get in the tamar..
cheers
