    ANZACS

Whatever you may be doing this long weekend...just spare a thought for those that are no longer with us yet they provided us with the freedoms we have now. Spare a thought for the diggers..both living and dead..Lest We Forget.

    Re: ANZACS

Yeah definately guys, I'll second that one.

Just don't forget the true meaning behind why we have a day off on Monday, and the men and women that won't be able to share it too - because of current conflict, or past.

May our thoughts be with those involved in past or present conflict.

    Lest we forget

    Re: ANZACS

I know most of my posts have been silly but this is most definately going to be an exception.

As an American, I want to extend a billion thank-you's not only to the brave and excellent men and women of your armed forces, but to the entire nation of Australia. Your nation has heard and answered the call throughout your history. Unlike some, you haven't cut and run at the first sign of trouble. Unlike some, your nation did not put economic and political considerations before doing the right thing. Unlike some, the Australian people MEANT IT when you said that you grieved with us here in the U.S. when the terrorists murdered 3000 innocent people. Unlike some, your leaders are standing strong and tall in the face of the terrorists. Unlike some, you understand the nature of the new and unique threat these terrorists pose to those who will not bow down to their insane militant fundamentalist views. Unlike some, your businesses will continue to get money from my pocket when I go shopping for goods. Finally, unlike some, you have my undying appreciation and love for what you have sacrificed and are continuing to sacrifice. You have no idea how much your friendship and loyalty means to us here. Without your help, they win. It's that simple. They'd pick us off one by one. France's bullying power grab for control of the E.U. and the U.N. in a time of crisis, will go down in history as the most selfish and cowardly act ever committed by a "free" nation. They cost me dearly and I'll never forgive them. EVER. Had they only helped....

Once the "Hipness" of "America bashing" that the socialist/communists of the world are enjoying wears off, it will be we nations who fought and died for freedom and stood up for what is right that will stand victorious and vindicated. The smoke and mirrors won't hide them forever.

It is the blood, sweat, tears and sacrifices of our soldiers that keep the free world free. We owe them a debt that can never be repayed. I'll never forget what you've done Australia. You are a true friend and ally.

From the bottom of my heart, with my entire being, and on behalf of my family, friends, and country, God bless you and thank you.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I have something in my eyes.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

El Carpo. Nice sentiments mate, but I don't agree with you completely. Not every Australian agrees with the war in Irak, Terrorism yes. After surviving a little adventure in South East Asia A few decades ago, I'm a bit skeptical about any other such adventures. Especialy with a son serving in the forces now. Anyway we shouldn't be fighting wars,we should be out there fihing.

    Re: ANZACS

Fair enough. I know it's not a very popular war. We're losing a load of soldiers here and it's tough to cope with (a large percentage are from Illinois). I do think that creating a stable area in the Middle East would help us win the war on terror. Maybe the folks there would see that we really aren't the, "Great Satan" that their leaders all tell them we are. That there is a better life for them rather than blowing themselves up in suicide attacks. What I will definatley agree with you on is the need for the politicians to heed the advice of the military in matters of war. When they try to run things, you get what happened in Vietnam (you know that far better than I). I'm afraid that none of us will be alive to see the end of the war on terror. I think we're going to be dealing with these psychos for a very long time. Anyway, we may disagree about Iraq, but I'll definately keep your son and all the other sons and daughters in the armed forces in my thoughts and prayers. Be safe and good fishing.

    Re: ANZACS

People, it would be fairly obvious that most people even most yanks (inlcuding el_carpo) have some respect but unfortuneatley there are some yanks that have a totally obnoxious and arrogrant attitude

As an example try this Cracker yank (wank)

    http://forums.worldclasscats.com/thr...=1181&tstart=0

So don't be shy, forget the polictics some yanks (not inlcuding El_carpo and many many others) really need to be put in their rightfull palce, some are complete wankers, feel free.

    Cheers, Kerry.

Kerry, does it cost anything to creat an account with these arseholes?

    Re: ANZACS

Cost? not all all, it's free to Abusers, but it's really a pity that some boatie/fisho's (which we all are) have to stoop this level of down right arrograce and insolence #>, really in some ways it shows how low some people will go.

One word thou, the site in question apparently appears to have some real problems with "outsiders" who actually question "their" establishment but that's totally irrelevant and beside the point in question

And as far as costs are concerned big deal, one site tonight has already gone the way of the dodo and quite frankly I couldn't give a sh.., not in the mood for double standard moderators on this one, take it or leave it

    Cheers, Kerry.

Hope the current discussion doesn't lose sight of what the thread was all about.

Just my two cents worth. You're right Blaze. I'm ex service as is my wife, and I have 2 sons still serving in the British Army and one recently left, who served in the first Gulf War. I myself have worked with Dutch, German, American, French, Ghurka, and Maltese troops. I've met wankers in every force I've worked with and I'll be honest, we didn't have very high regard for the American troops back then, but our conclusion was that this was in the main due to poor leadership and lack of familiarisation with what they were likely to encounter. The guys themselves, were amongst the friendliest guys I had ever met. They would have given you their last dollar and laid their lives on the line for you, and I don't doubt, that would be the case with many armed forces guys around the world. If a force is found lacking, either through the actions of the individual or as perceived by the results of the whole, then that should reflect on the leadership and not on Joe Soap. The wankers should have been weeded out during the selection process or "de-wanked" during training.

El carpo, with regards to Iraq. I'm afraid that my opinion is that the coalition is on a hiding to nothing. If the coalition were worried about WMDs and Saddam Hussein, then fine.... It's sorted......now get the hell out. There never was a public disclosure that the coalition were there to, qoute "create a democracy" which is what they are now saying. Iraq is surrounded by non-democracies who are shitting themselves that the coalition may succeed and create a role model for the rest of the Arab world. Not only are most nations in the world against the Invasion of Iraq, but the whole Arab world is now arraigned against the coalition. Even the so-called allies such as the Saudis and Kuwaitis are secretely funding the current subversion and unrest in Iraq. If a simple man such as I can see that (and I think it's plain to see as reported in some press), then why can't the leaders of the coalition see that, or do they have another agenda that makes them think it's worth putting their citizens lives at risk?

Anyway, that's off my chest and it was weighing heavily because I know what it must be like for a lot of those guys out there who are laying their lives on the line for something that they, as individuals, do not believe in. Ordinary men, wankers or acheivers, who put their country above their own beliefs and are prepared to die for that.

Tribute to the Anzacs.........and to *all* who serve their countries armed forces........and let's not forget those who are rarely officialy remembered. The aid workers who've taken a terrible toll in pre and post conflicts throughout the worlds.

Raise a glass and pause for thought, "To those who serve"
