Crazy fish photos

Following on from the "ugly fish" ba229 posted recently, i believe this are some of the fish that have been washed up by the devastation of the Tsunami.

i think this one is called "lizard fish", but don't quote me on the names!

They look more like research shots from a deep trawl vessel.

I don't think there is that much marine research going on in the tsunami zone at the moment.

If these fish were coughed up by the earthquake, most of us would be dead now - a quake of that magintude would have wiped out most of the world.

Apparently, if a 1km asteroid/meteorite hit the middle of the Pacific, a Tsunami of up to 4km high could hit Australia.

no they are research photos, CSIRO I think or another research location.

I have seen these photos in the journal Nature.

New genus and species from a seamount I believe.

I've got no idea where they came from guys. The script where I found 'em was they were tsunami washed up. But in all honesty, I think they have probably got much more important priorities right now than measuring and photographing strange fish, so their actual origin is unknown to me.
