    Re: Have you seen these

    Hi,

I think the fish in the picture with the guy in the red shirt is an alligator gar. We have those in the Mississippi River. The armored, crawly thing in the last picture looks like a horseshoe crab. I've never heard of them being that big though.

    Cool pictures!

Reckon you got that in one! LOL

"Horseshoe crabs, common along the Delaware coast, have evolved little in the last 250 million years. Still, they have survived because of their hard, curved shells, which have made it difficult for predators to overturn them and expose their soft, vulnerable underbellies. The horseshoe crab has also survived because it can go a year without eating and endure extreme temperatures and salinity".

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to you freezing people in Chicago. My mate is back there for Xmas but will more than likely head straight back to Asia on a photographic job rather than shovel snow off his drive. LOL

    Re: Have you seen these

    Hi All

The long eel-like thing is a ribbonfish or oarfish.

Yes that is a horeshoe crab - first photo is a trick one.

The "barracuda" is an alligator gar.

The catfish looks like a European Wels (frshwater catfish) but could be an American cattie as well.

    Re: Have you seen these

That Horseshoe crab is ONE COOL ANIMAL!!

They should make a horror movie with Sigornie Weaver about those things!
Thanks for the great post ..... I love this stuff!

    Re: Have you seen these

The catfish is not the European Wels but an American cattie.

Horseshoe crab is a nice looking creature indeed.
I also think that the first picture is a doctored photo.
