To Right - RACQ insurance screwed me over 12 years ago when my car was stolen from a secure car park on the Gold Coast.Originally Posted by Feral

I had the same deal with Suncorp insurance a few year back.. & it is my life time mission to tell everyone my story..
On the matter of BCF i found it was great store if you know what you are looking for tho a few of the staff could work on their customer service skills..

It does appear that the BCF stores are hurting the Supercheap outfit somewhat with sales not anything like what they hoped for or expected. Their pricing policies are a little bit confusing at times and, with a couple of their stores, you can't even get into the place (ie. park your car). With the Supercheap (parent company) share price on a bit of a downhill slide and Bob Thorn (the Big Boss and the face of Supercheap) jumping ship recently, all may not be as well as they would have us believe inside the Supercheap ranch. Time will tell....
Cheers,
NICK.
BCF is good
i was happy that they price matched with the mart with an A on their abu 5600c4 special for $89.99, there is one guy at my local one that i always deal with, really knows his stuff and isnt afraid to give an honest opinion of the products. Although some of the staff dont have a clue, i went in looking for some halco slugs the other day and when i couldnt find them on the shelf they were on the week before i asked one of the other guys who just walked along the lure aisle and then told me they had never stocked halco metals... But theres good and bad employees at every store you go into.
Gday all, I work at BCF in Toowoomba and have read every thread on this topic. I can only speak for my store. I noticed there is only one comment about the Toowoomba store, not sure what that means. One of the problems with opening 12 or so stores is where do we find 70 or 80 full time, mature expert reatail sales people that know everything there is to know about fishing, boating and camping. If a customer is twice or three times the age of the sales person how the hell is he or she expected to know as much as the customer. From my personal experience a lack of knowledge is generally due to a lack of training and knowledge provided by the employer. I have extensive fishing experience and have no trouble serving ANY person in the store, however my work mates do not have my experience therefore I do not expect them to know everything, thats why they are the Camping specialist or Boating Specialist. If we do not pack shelves there is no stock for people to look at or buy, so that argument is insane. Another problem is keeping the stock coming in to fill the shelves as some suppliers can not keep up with the huge product requirments of all BCF stores therefore some times products remain sold out, this has nothing to do with BCF it is the suppliers.
We can only serve one customer at a time. We are more than happy to chat about fishing, tips, gear, place etc but if more people are waiting for service it is just not possible. I can promise that every rod in my store is priced. Most threads have said that they will support their local, which is great but dont forget the employment provided by BCF. The wages of the BCF staff all go back to the local economy as well. BCF can and does provide good service. It may be a matter of just knowing who to talk too. If you would like some help with a product or just a chat, dont be afraid to ask. We constantly ask customers if they would like assistance with most replies being "no thanks just looking" so just ask we cant read minds.
As I said I can only comment about my local store.
Just my thaughts.
I agree with hoges TS
went down to the store at browns plains a couple of weeks ago to check out a new rod and reel combo raider 7'' 2 and a shimano sedona 2500 .
I walked in went staight to the rod section checked out the drop shot they had at $89.00 and the raider range witch was at $139.00 the reel i was looking at was cheaper at the mart at $76.00 . A young guy by the name of Mat cme straight up asked could he help me and we discused the pro's and con's of what i wanted he sent well over half an hour with me , after a few tricky questions on soft plastics and the gear I found he was pretty clued up and very keen fisher and a guy who gets excited about fishing just like we all do when talking about it to cut along story short he discounted the reel to what the other mob had it at he also discounted the fireline i bought and berkley plastics all lower than any of the competion was offering witch i checked out all that morning all in i got the rod and reel i wanted for a price i was very happy to pay plus the chance to meet someone who knows what he is talking about
being in customer service myself this was a refreshing change from some of the people i have delt with . Hats off to Mat keep up the good work

After reading most of the threads about the service and the age of the staff at some of the BCF stores around, most complaints seem to be about lack of service from staff. I have been in business myself and the best critisism from customers is to tell the management of your complaints. This will let them know what is going on as most are in the office and do not know what is going on on the floor. People today are to scared to confront staff and ask for advise and directions. As to the age of the staff all I can say is that, remember back when we started to work how much did we know about anything. I have been to many big stores and recieved no service at all, I have gone to the counter and asked for the store manager and told them the lack of service and i guarentee the service has change after telling them. Society now days is too touchy feely and noone wants to make waves.
G'Day all, I have always found BCF to be a pleasant experience as I am 1 of those who would rather look until I have decided on what I think is best and then ask for the pros and cons of the items. But on saying that I wont ask if the clowns have no idea. But as stated above there are quiet a few good fisher folk that work in these establishments and really know what they are talking about. After a few experiences in BCF you soon realise who are the geese and who are the fishos, so I always now ask if Bones is working in BCF Townsville, if he is not than I will not shop that day but rather come back when he is working.
A bit of a plug for him but he is full of good advice and quick to cut through the s**T and give you his real opinion.
Nick.
