    Lead Embedded Dacron - LED

Got me a few 10m lengths while I was in NZ. The SW fly guys use LED instead of shooting heads. Much cheaper at $4 for a 10m length. At that price they are affordable and easily replaced when fishing the reef or around the rocks.

Had a cast of a 14wt double handed bay rod with a LED tied on and it was the longest cast I have ever made.

Is the LED the lead cored dacron that is sold as trolling line in the states?

I've seen some made by Cortland, but didn't end up gatting any as I wasn't sure about it's durability.

That stuff was very cheap if I recall. About half the price of LC13 or the like.

Yeh, I reckon that's the stuff Andy. The guys did mention they use it for trolling. From memory a 50m spool was priced at NZ$49.
    5 x 10m shooting heads @ $5 a pop. 8) 8)

I was casting it in the carpark of the tackle shop onto the concrete.

That 14' rod, how long was the head, or LED. Gudebrod make that stuff, trolling line, like Deep Six, cortland have it and you can stuff your own, using non lead solder stuffed up 35lb braided mono.

From memory it was their standard 10m length. The reel was an alvey fitted to 9/10wt originally. The guy was experimenting with the big rod in the car park.
