    Tarpon spots

I am fairly new to fly fishing and have started tying my own flies. I have some that I would like to try out on Tarpon, but I don't really know where to look for them. Anyone got any suggestions other than "in the water"?
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Re: Tarpon spots

    Sorry guys,
I am in Brisbane. While I do have a boat, I was thinking of a couple of land based spots where I might kill a couple of hours after work in the afternoons.
    Cheers,
    Chris

Try the upper brisbane river - there are plauges of them if you know where.
Some of it is landbased but a canoe or small boat would be better.
I always have trouble hooking them because of their bony mouth. My last trip I hooked 10 & landed 2.

Sneak into the Carbrook GC at night and fish the sand dredging ponds...quite a few tarpon and the odd giant herring to make life interesting.
