Tarpon spots
I am fairly new to fly fishing and have started tying my own flies. I have some that I would like to try out on Tarpon, but I don't really know where to look for them. Anyone got any suggestions other than "in the water"?
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Tarpon spots
Sorry guys,
I am in Brisbane. While I do have a boat, I was thinking of a couple of land based spots where I might kill a couple of hours after work in the afternoons.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Tarpon spots
Try the upper brisbane river - there are plauges of them if you know where.
Some of it is landbased but a canoe or small boat would be better.
I always have trouble hooking them because of their bony mouth. My last trip I hooked 10 & landed 2.

Sneak into the Carbrook GC at night and fish the sand dredging ponds...quite a few tarpon and the odd giant herring to make life interesting.

Hi Chris!
I am allso situated in Brisbane. Been here for a couple of months, and have yet to try my flyrod in Australia. Could you please let me know how you go on your Tarpon quest. And by all means contact me if you want a fishing partner one day
Thight lines!
