I've just taken the plunge and let me say that good advice from someone that knows how it's done is everything. I went the Duncan and Fishhead in Redland Bay. Firstly he's very helpful and know's his stuff. I finished up with a Innovator 8-9 Distance and a Vision 3 Zone reel and a few 8wt lines to suit. No fish yet but I'm starting to cast better.

Also consider getting a cheap line or secondhand one to flog around on land as the rocks etc... don't do the line much good.
