Stocking survival
Gidday Fitzy,
I was wondering if you know what kind of survival we get from the stocked species in the dams around Briz, in particular the less stocked species (Mary river cod, saratoga etc.).
Thanks
George

Re: Stocking survival
Hi George,
There is no way to know for sure, even the experts at fisheries can only give an educated guess based upon fish numbers of predator fish already present, food supply, cover for juvenile fish, size of fingerlings etc at any given lake/river.
Dr Hutchison has done some good research on fingerling release technique & locations within a few dams & has outlined some tips on better survival rates.
I recon we run at about 60-70% survival for bass yellas etc at Somerset if the fingerlings are in good nick, I recon definately 80% or better for cod & saratoga.
Sorry I can't give you specifics, but its hard to get down there & count them all once released.
Cheers,
Fitzy..
