    Cleaning Boat

    Hey all,

I have just purchased a 1990 haines signature and was wondering if you could help me with a couple of things.

    1. Can I use Car wax/cut & polish to clean it? Or is a fibreglass specific polish more suitable? If so what do you guys use.

    2. Is there anywhere that you know that sells GPS cheaper then elsewhere?

    Thanks in advance

This is right along Webbys line so best to ask him .
I would think that truck wash on gelcoat might be a bit on the hard side .
What do you think of the signature ?

I only purchased the signature this afternoon.. so havent really taken it out and tested it as of yet.
I have heard only good reports on them so far .. so fingers crossed.
Its a 1750L with a 115 Mercury on it..only 140hrs on entire unit from new..
taking it out early sunday morning for a spin so maybe tell you more then..
I need more info though on this cleaning thing though ...Anyone?

    Re: Cleaning Boat

Gday all,Ihad a Wahoo pro sieries for 6 years and found that Ronstan boat pollish in the fine paste kept the gellcoat in good nick and applied every 6 months also made the boat wash alot easier. My personal choice for soap after each trip was turtle wax and a light chamios this kept the rig looking smick.I hope this helps you out HIGHLY_STRUNG

Yep , I have to agree with highly about the turtle wax .
A good wax job is enough to keep any man happy .
But tell us how did the signature perform .
My opinion is that the finish to the Signature's and the design from many years of boat building is the shinning point of these boats , and puts them just ahead of competition .
Although there is still many other boats out there that are a credit to the boat builder .
As to washing I use to use the turtle wax product and never had a prob .
Stick away from the harsher stuff and I still think Webby will give you the goss on the stuff to use .

    Re: Cleaning Boat

I have taken the boat out 3 times now.
Only in the bay on all occasions but coming home monday arvo at 4pm there was about 1-1.2m chop and it still only took 15minutes from peel doing 35km/h and it was a fairly calm "bit bouncy" ride, even the pregnant one beside me didnt complain.
It has a top speed of about 85km/h and runs like a dream.
Does anyone know what this boat/motor combination would weigh ?
    cheers adam
