    Outboard props

    Righto,

Over the w/e my cousin turned up at BP Dam with his newly aquired tinny and 9.9hp motor (ahahaha - but thats another story)

Anyway, on the prop it had alot of nitches/cuts/burs in it. I suggested to him to file them out/flat because it will cause some problems in the long run.

I also told him that to replace it would cost $$$.

He was suprised at the cost of a new one (I quoted a few hundered) but I told him that we have an electric motor because the props are $30 (or so) compared to the petrol.

    Is this correct?

Not sure if you would really notice any difference in a 9.9 except if they were big chunks taken out causing it to be out of balance. Don't see that cleaning it up would hurt anyway. A new prop should be under $200, not sure about the electrics but as they aren't really subject to the forces of getting a boat on the plane they should be cheaper.

    Cheers, Clutter.
