    Bertram 20' :Comments

    I've been looking at a few of the old Bertram 20 footers, "Bajas" I think they're called. They look like a solid good riding hull. I have 2 questions;
    1. What can anyone tell me about them, and
    2. Has anyone done a conversion to an outboard. All the ones I've seen have had sterndrives, and I'd like to know if the conversion is successful. I imagine you'd be looking at about 200H.P.

    Thanks, John.

    Bahai Mahs or something I think they were called. Some of the Prides were the same hull. Great old boat and have been successfully made into podded boats. Like any old well built/heavily built deep V hull they need a boot full of power to make them work. Will also need trim tabs as the hard top ones especially will catch the wind and make them lean into the wind. Fitting tabs on any deep V is the way to go anyway.

    bahia mar is the raised cabin model, moppie was the flat deck runabout model.

    Do a google search on bertram bahia mar and you should be able to find some info.

    Here's a nice one to look at in your neighborhood..
