FNQ,
I don't think you can make a judgement on these as you will never find out the true history of the engine.
At the least they look to be big hour comercial engines

Yeah true Garry, I had not thought of that.
Althought whats stopping it from being me 2 years out of warrenty?
If you can say whats a full rebuild on one of yours around the same HP worth? just the parts even?
cheers fnq
fnq,
they are not cheap to rebuild, I think your looking at roughly %50 of original purchase cost for a rebuild

Would have been funny if they were Suzuki's eh
looked at a stejcraft 5.25 2001 with a yammie f100 "06" 4st with 12 hrs on it for 17k.
Is it worthy of a water test as its from dealer ?
Hi idiot always wanted to say that on a forum
I would not expect there is anything wrong with the Yam 100hp engines, I posted to highlight just how disposable these 4 strokes of all brands are when compared to engines of the past when out of warranty because the rebuild cost can be so high it is uneconomical not to consider a new one because of the new warranty that comes with it.
Also it's not as if any other person is going to see the engine a worth much more than scrap also, the next 10 years will see interesting developments I am sure.
It all seems a high price for 20% better fuel economy and noise reduction.
If you want the rig go for it I reckon!
cheers fnq
Well worth the water test I'd say #Originally Posted by idiotfisher

Late model bits & pieces like that are probably left over from Insurance claim (drowning) replacements.
Be careful.
i certainly wouldn,t have second thoughts about buying a four stroke just because some one has a shitty one on e bay for sale, if that was the case we wouldn,t buy anything, with some of the crap flogged on that site. i make my decisions on fact. bob h
ps ;fat is beautiful
Like all new age 4st's, they need regular oil changes, filter changes and need looking after.
If you neglect them thats what happens.
The pros are still using them on there boats so i dont think theres a problem
Have a look at the nets in the background, I would say these engines have earnt their retirement.
