Look closely in attached photo and you'll see about 3+ m dinosaur sitting in 1.5 m of water about 2 m in front of me. This was in a small creek you could just about jump across in western Cape York - sure got me to redefine my personal definition of 'croc habitat' for that part of the world - I was surveying this creekas part of a study for a mining company who had issued us with Job Saftey Analysis (JSA) notebooks which we were meant to fill out if job saftey conditions change - spotting this fella in the water at such close range sure got my notebook out!!
Be aware if sweetwater fishing in the Cape - there are some bloody big 'swallomagotchas' living in some small creks up there!

Mate sounds like you have the life. I'd give my left nut and more to be working out in that sort of country. Nice pic.

yes had similair experience up on the archer river western side of the cape in the late 80's when i was a kid...walking along the waters edge dragging our lures in the water in a narrow (and fairly shallow) stretch of the upper reaches we suddenly saw a sizeable (3.5-4m) saltie sitting on the bottom...scared the sh#t out of us and for rest of trip we kept a little more distance from the water....
