Drop into your local marine outlet & politely ask then if you can photocopy a manual out of a new one. You never know, they may have a manual laying around the place that they'll throw at you.
Ask away, I'm sure 99% of marine stores will help you.
If in Brisbane go to Springwood Marine, they team there are most helpful.

Go to www.humminbird.com, then at the top of the screen click on "product support." Follow the trail to manuals, and you can download a PDF file of the instruction manual, and print it out yourself.
For those wondering, Lowrance also offer this service. Its worth visiting www.lowrance.com just to read their sounder tutorial.
Anyone who owns a sounder should read it.
