1560 pound world record marlin

I found this picture on the net of this huge 1560 pound world record black marlin that was caught in the late 1970's I know it might not be up to date but still it is massive.

yep, thats still the bigest black marlin to be caught on rod and reel. There is meant to have been a bigger one HARPOONED many years ago but the 1560 is the biggest on conventional gear.

lacttic- funnily enough there is still plenty of fish over the magic 1000lb mark caught every septemeber and october on the great barrier reef.

I have personally seen a photo of a blue marlin over 3000lb hooked by Bart Miller in Kona Hawaii, only to brake the line 2 meters behind the transom. I have also see his 2000lb blue and his famous blue of 1656lb which didn’t escape.
