Got to agree with you there. Gidgee is one of the best timbers. Jack Absolem in his book Outback Cooking In The Camp Oven deliberately went west to gidgee country when he did all the cooking and photographs for the book.

Baldy just goes to show how much I know about shooting. It was the Australian Shooter but I don't have a date I just got the article copied it and gave it back.

Milki you are right about gidgee it was so hard we didn't bother cutting it just started the fire in the middle. We only had a small fire and we had a freezing night and it was just a mattter of putting kindling on the embers and the fire was away again.
