VHF broadcasting very quietly

Hi All,

I upgraded my 27mhz marine radio a VHF radio and aerial.

The aerial & mounting I used was a Uniden VHF 1.2 meters, with a double swivel base, also bought same day at BCF.

Whenever I try to log on or off at the boat ramp the Sea Rescue can barely hear me. They say I am coming through very clearly, but whisper quiet.

Settings are on high power, and all connections look great. I am using the original power cable from the same brand 27mhz, but they look identical.

I called the sea rescue on the phone while doing my radio check and they said the aerial might need tuning ?

Shouldn't they just work out of the box, its all standard stuff, nothing fancy ?

Any ideas ?

In the pic of the radio, above the channel 16 are the letters INT. I think this stands for international channels. Check your instructions and make sure your radio is set to the international setting. (I think this is correct)
