Pop the motor back on and with the motor trimmed out swing your body weight off the cav plate and look for flex in the transom. If the transom has no flex then you are good to go, knowing that at some point in the future you will need to replace the transom. If there is noticeable flex then a repair is needed more urgently. Although, a customer and mate of mine has a boat with a soft transom and he has continued using it for at least the last 5-8 years.
