Old rod and reel

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I was very pleased today to be given my Dads old rod and reel. I worked out it must be at least 50 years old
It is an 8 ft fibre glass rod and the reel is an Alvey bakerlight.
It has cleaned up nicely and I will have to go and try it out during the week. I usually fish in the Opposite side of the highway to Deep Water Bend but might try of the old Hornibrook.
