    Re: Electronics

Hahahah thanks for that too. i am missing my little musuem atm with this lock down.
What engine are you running? if its a newer merc then for sure the go series " or any simrad/lowrance new gen" is pretty groovy for getting merc engine data up on the screen with a bit more love than other brands.
However just about all brands with NMEA2K out data will show up fine on just about all units
The go9 is a fine unit for sure. we have just put two on one of the jeanneau 755 we have been modifying for a client. and they have been okay. they are a good price atm for a 9" combo system with half decent specs

If you wanting mapping as a priority then id be considering garmin for sure with their new G3 mapping, its considerably better than other brands,
usual questions though. where aer you going, do you have a budget and what have you used in the past?

    Re: Electronics

hahahha those paper sounders were pretty snazzy for a while back then!
Maybe they will come back like LP records have started too.

maybe i should build our next demo boat with vintage tech only ........that.... sounds kinda appealing tbh

So heres a bit of a system to consider

Garmin 952xs With its built in G3 mapping.
    it brings to the party
    - g3 mapping (with navionics data... very good good mapping)
    - Autoguidance "especially for Western port bay)
    - Deeper water sonar capabilities
    - excelent wifi app (active captain)

    Garmin transducer - GT23M
    - Medium frequency spectrum 600w
-260khz side vu (for deeper water and range )

    Simrad GO9XSE
what it brings to the party
    - Cmap map card (meh.. good back up mapping in comparison but its alright)
    -Excelent Mercury engine interfacing
-Fish reveal sonar function.. .which.. as gimmicky as it looks, is pretty good!

    Trasnducer
    - 300w 83khz (60o beam angle, great for finding fish in shallower waters, not the highest detail especially bottom)
-200khz higher frequency with narrow beam angle which is great for bottom definition,
800khz structure scan.. is rather good it must be said!

Both systems are conencted via NMEA2K and both can receive engine data.

Transducers compliment each other by offering different frequencies and power outputs.. Best of both worlds you could say
    Attachment 122034

A system like this with all bits and pieces would be around $4200 for you
