same as every forward control 2 stroke ive owned 70 90 115 225 and a pair of 30s only difference was an idle lever which rarely got used.

think we need to separate the pre 80s 70s old things and two strokes since then even carbed ones
Since 2006 when I bought my first F60 Yammi - I've never touched the choke - F70 , F100 . I think back to my 1993 75 Mariner 2 banger - It was temperamental …… so much so that I would run the motor before I left home ( evening before a trip or just before I left home) - Let the motor sit for a month & you could count on several goes to start it . . The 115 Yammi was better but only had it for a year or so. ….. still flooded it a couple of times - & oiled it up on days trolling.

It's no different to cars ……. the 60s & 70s cars I drove or owned - common to have starting issues ….. specially in winter / ditto with breakdowns. Compare them to the cars I've owned or driven in the last 30 years - with the exception of the odd flat battery the cars start with just a turn of the key ...… it's a shock if you have to turn the key a second time. (touch wood - I cant remember having an issue with a car in the last 20 years)

just nitpicking over minor things computerized electronic choke versus having to push the key in, it still has a choke
I use to start it every weekend or two when mowing the lawns so was never more then 2 weeks between being started, might have made a difference or just got lucky

i have two mid 60s mk1 cortinas both start first turn of the key, maintenance and looking after them helps.
things people didn't do back then

Not nit picking …… was / is a fact - back in my early boating days / lots of trips were cancelled or came to a premature end due to mechanical issues - club outings often meant dealing with someones boat issues or a tow …. you could nearly bank on it .

Anyhow - all cool , if people prefer the old tech to new …… knock yourselves out
