Took Owen and Tim fishing off Mooloolaba Saturday.
Fished from Caloundra Wide up to The Banks nearly all in 100-150m.
Wasn't easy going but Tim and Owen got 5 fish each and we had a beautiful arvo at The Banks with near glass conditions and dolphins and whales about.
Many whales within 50m and a couple of big boofy males leaping completely out of the water - impressive.
I caught fish too.
We got mainly pearlies and a few snapper - just before the close for one month starting in two days on the 15th.
On a wreck Owen did hook up most likely a big cod which did not want to leave the bottom - he wrestled with it for about 15 minutes with give and take of 5-10m until the line snapped - 70lb line and it wasn't coming up :-)
A pleasant day out where everything worked perfectly and the current was not too strong.
Had a 3m whaler shark swim up under the boat once but it didn't hang about and eat fish - so no problem.
Enjoyed a beer on return run in calm conditions
Ella said I must get a go-pro so she can see the spectacles I keep describing - whales, sharks, dolphins etc.Attachment 121848Attachment 121849Attachment 121850Attachment 121851Attachment 121852
