Alvey did get saved but the deck winches seem to be out of stock everywhere. Probably need to ring around.

i have used both a deck winch and an Aley Gunnel rod ...... you are far better off with a gunnel rod as you can use different reels for different fishing. Gunnel rods are more user friendly for kids as well , look on utube for some vids.
pics will show the differences between winch and gunnel rod options.

Thanks I’ll check it out. Alvey have stopped making the winches so remaining stock are asking top dollar. They’ve basically been superseded by electric reels
