Hi All

Is anyone using a GoPro Hero 8 Black action cam ?

I've got a 6 Black and was wondering if there is much of an improvement ?

I have to say access to the battery & USB slots are a pain in the ass since they went away from the old housings .

Interested to hear your thoughts

Hey Chris i have never had a Gopro but i have a 4wd supermarket action camera works really well just the sound is poor but for $30 cant complain

There are a heap of different action cams out there …… but Go pro do have the best quality & features .

I've looked at most of them & it's just nah ……. they are not even as good as my old GoPro 3 - I just recently looked at the DJI Osmo - it's pretty bloody good but the App is a bit shitty . …. maybe when GenII comes out it will be a better prospect.

I just purchased an 8, havn’t used it a lot yet but the image stabilisation is really good i have noticed, I’m a bit wary of the built in lense though so a protector is a must or put it in a case

I've had a Hero 8 Black for about 7 months now, but haven't used it a lot. The image stabilisation is good--I was using this on a motorbike at a classic hillclimb event--I've done the same thing with a Hero 3 Black, and there was a real issue with image wavering due to the vibration produced by the old bikes. No issues at all with the 8. Used it on the ride down as well as the event, it went really well. Colour is vibrant, touch screen makes getting your head around the controls a bit hard.
I'll have a better idea in a months' time--just about to leave for a month at a remote spot, mix of billfish, other pelagics and bottom bashing/deep dropping.

I did hear that the stabilization is good on the 8 ..... & I've seen a couple of videos where the Osmo was put up against it - the Osmo was good but not as good .

How is the battery life with the 8 ?

Seems about the same, roughly, as my old hero 3 Black? Certainly no worse, IMO.
