    Boat wash

What do you guys and girls wash your boats down with? I have recently purchased my first fibreglass boat after years of washing down tinnies with ordinary dishwash detergent. Is the fancy stuff worth the extra dollars?

Splash out and upgrade to some car wash with wax in it then or some more expensive boat wash from whitworths or bcf or rtm,ive used the Septone boat washnwax.

I just use water to avoid stripping off the polish.
    Same for my cars.
    What could go wrong.......................

    Re: Boat wash

yep that’s what most of my wash downs are with, been missing a fair bit of salt so was wondering if the fancy products are just talk or if they actually work. Probably just need to put in some more elbow grease with the sponge.

I've found plain water leaves a layer of salt and damp to the touch whereas adding a squirt of morning fresh leaves the boat salt free and dry.

This is what I use. Was told once that some detergent’s take the wax off over time. That’s if you polish and wax your boat which I do by hand once a year. Boats ten years old and the gel coat looks brand new.

    I use salt away
But I believe there's an OZ product said to be better - saltoff

I just had a look at their website, has anyone been using it for awhile?

I use the army all blue wash and wax cleaner seems to do a good job getting rid of the crusty salt residue
    Mercury 115ct going strong😁

    Re: Boat wash

I use the green ARMOR ALL heavy duty car wash, only because that’s what I had in the shed when I bought the boat. I have a painted aluminium boat & it comes up like brand new after a wash, although next trip I think I’ll try just hosing it off with saltaway, I’m getting a bit tired of grooming the whole boat after each trip & looking for an easier way to get the same result.
does the salt off or salt away leave streaks when it dries?
