I found this breed to be the most durable https://www.ansco.com.au/Jarrett-Win...b-f10952wc.htm when I was hand winching the 5.6 yrs ago. . In fact I may swap the single speed winch on the Cavalier Belco trailer for one as my ramp is a bit steep.
    What could go wrong.......................

Ended up with an Atlantic 1500 kg 15/5/1:1.

I probably wouldnt hand winch a over 5m boat again that kills u especially if its a high ratio winch and your there for ever.. first u start off with the left arm than swap to the right than your using both arms than someone else has a go... not what u need after 10 hours fishing in the sun

The bearing winch would be very do-able you'd have to get a load rated sealed nylon bearing but could be dangerous if u forget to unclip the winch cable and u drive off the trailer that winch handle would spin like crazy

While definitely not as quick as an efficient drive on, I'm still faster with a powerwinch than a lot of the locals in my area with smaller boats using hand winches...….on a double line pull and that's not even taking into account reversing the trailer down. Watching some of the guys with smaller trailers that disappear from the mirrors without the boat on does my head in.
