    Motorguide advice

I'm thinking of dropping some coin on a bow mount xi5 pinpoint for a 475 quintrex bowrider.

55lb 54" is where i'm looking towards, probably the minimum size for this boat but seems to fit within recommendations and 12v is an advantage. will be mainly used to position for casting, maybe a bit of spot locking and generally in areas of fairly low current and relatively calm conditions.

I will need to mod a bow rail and have a thruster plate welded on.

Do the quick release brackets have any pro's/con's?

If anyone has any advice that would be great.

    I have a 55 pound x15 on a 420 renegade and it’s just enough

Will be too small for your boat

Quick release just means can remove it to store it is all
Easier for someone to pinch it as well

    Appreciate the input steve.

Ive read mixed opinions on 55lb - 16ft boat. Some say its enough, some say need bigger.

    Maybe i need to re-think.
I want to keep to 1 battery to save space and weight.

Maybe ill hold off for a bit and even consider a 65lb 12v watersnake, no spot lock but less than 1/3 price, if im not happy with it or i break it its not such a big deal.
With the ammount i will use it and advancements in technology perhaps it will be better value for me.

With the quick release brackets, the puck is mounted with 4 bolts over a smaller foot print than just bolting the motor straight to the bow, i wonder if this becomes a weakness or causes vibration/rattles.

I’ve always just bolted them to the boat but then any boat I had with an electric was shed stored

Dead calm low flow 55 pd would work I guess

    Thanks again steve.
I might just hold off a while. The ammount im using the boat at the moment it may not be the best investment.

Fitting a mounting plate and modding the bow rail is another issue.

After a bit more thought i am now thinking about the 24v 80lb 60".

Hopefully the 60" shaft wont get in the way when stowed.

What sort of battery run time might i expect out of 2x 100ah batteries? I assume longer than 1x 100ah on a 12v 55lb thrust model.
