    Legal ?

As I don’t have a clue,Is a commercial fisher allowed to use a net between a boat and the shore in an estuary in Qld ? It was like the commercial netters use on the beach.I noticed this in Whalleys Gutter at the “Pin” yesterday.

Seine nets (bait or drag nets) Tidal water

    • Must not exceed 16m in length and 3m in drop.
    • Mesh size should not exceed 28mm.
    • The net must not contain a bag, pocket or anything similar.
    • It must not be anchored, staked or fixed.
    • The net should not be out of the water when containing fish other than to remove and release them.
    • All regulated fish not intended to be taken should be released into deep enough water to allow escape.
Not sure if this is what you are talking about but i suspect it could be?

That is for recreational fishers, not commercial.

I believe a commercial operator can fix one end of the net as long as they are in attendance.
