Sharkcat 560 - what outboard size
Hi... this may be a well worn question but was questioning what is the optimal outboard size on a shark cat 560?
twin 70hp, 90hp, 115hp?
thanks in advance.

115s i say. 90s a bit underpowered in a fourstroke.
Did you make a decision?

70's are slow and sluggish, 90 Suzuki's go well, lightest in that HP, 115's probably best, but you start getting up there in weight, so the old compromise comes into play, a bit more HP with a weight penalty, or less HP and better balance? as long as the boat is structuraly sound, you can put big HP on them.

old 560 sharkcats seemed to run the best with twin yammie 90 2 strokes ,, so what ever modern dock matches that weigh and power curve would be a good starting point ..... IMHO cats like a torquey motor and less weight is better.

Twin 90hp 4 stroke Honda... actually go really well. Very happy!

You already have the boat, but just asking what engines are best?

Suzuki and Honda both have newish 100hp models, 1.5L and around the 160kg mark (derived from 90's). Seems like they have taken a similar design path, quite under-square with low ratio gearboxes, so should have very good torque at the prop for the smallish capacity.

No... was looking at a 560 that needed engines replaced and then I brought a different one with it all done

Couple of the new lighter 100's may be the go.
