Having driven out to the banks on variable 5-10 knot nights many times to catch snapper 5 km south of the banks I have had to turn around a couple of times to get out of the weather change that’s come through and spend 2 hrs getting back to Mooloolaba,I doubt I would do it these days . My worst would be chasing black marlin at the pin bar with another boat and the weather went ordinary and that also was a nasty run through the seaway but the old 4.5 made it back in no problem , certainly not my riskiest day . My stupidest effort was heading out to mermaid reef years ago when we never had gps and used to line up a particular tower on the Goldie with a spot on the range to find it , all in a 12 foot tinnie and 15 hp now that was an offshore boat bahahaha.
