New Calypso board prototype - Feedback appriciated

    Hi all
A while ago we launched our Sutherland fibreglass baitboard designed for large trailerboats and up. Since then we had a lot of people ask us for a smaller board, we decided to take a different approach and using the same HDPE we build a lot of our outfitting equipment out of we decided to embark on a smaller board
So here is the Calypso.. at this stage it was just a quick protoype for the Melbourne boat show.

1200mm wide by 400mm deep. twin draws with stainless steel 316 runners, stainless steel 316 latches. knife and plyer holders. deck wash gun holder, drains. sectionable storage in the rear section. this one has a timber cutting surface "to be kinder on knife blades + replace ability and for a nice look.

So heres what we have in mind. we can offer these with various cutting surfaces. "hdpe, stone, teflon or timber. different measuring rulers etc, cup holders, stainless spreader bars etc

So here it is.. whats your thoughts?

straight out of the box , it one of the best looking boards ive seen, functional and smart finish with the timber look, twin drawers to hide the spools of line and or bait. its designated tool area and rag holder. long and wide enough to hold those QLD fish, this is too big for NSW fish so you'd have to make a pup out of this one. for me personally the sectional storage area would have to be easy to clean but apart from that i give this design a 9/10

Hey thanks for that! thats very very cool

the sectional things slide in and out "like tackle trays do" so you can make what ever size you need, there is a notch out on the back and front side of the deviders to allow water to flow through to the right hand, where there is a drain hole "with hose" overboard
Timber has a 15mm gap around all sides to allow washage and no gunk.
we wanted a cutting surface as close to 1mt as we could get " i think we were at 880mm. making the board any wider than 1200 would increase costs a bit.
we could also use plastic draw runners instead of stainless to keep the cost down. But tbh.. we are not really in the buisness of making cheap budget stuff. id prefer to send each one of these out as a high quality solid unit.

Looks good. I would want to confirm there is a drip mould underneath the overhanging part of the cutting board so stinky bait juice doesn’t run down into the drawers. A small rebate would do it.

So hopefully it may be a bit clearer in this photo. the run off goes down the back right side to a recessed drain is. would you have one on both sides?

Is the board sloped slightly backwards? That would help.

its all squared and level in constructuon. it would be more of a mounting solution re tilting slightly back, but ill make a note for when we weld up its supports

While all those square storage compartments look handy I'd reckon they'll be an absolute pain in the ass to keep clean, especially when trying to get a scrubbing bruch into them at the end of a days reef fishing

yeah cleanlyness is important , they do slide out for washing. perhaps we could change it out to a clear or solid acrylic?
