    Tigertooth Croaker , Otolithes Ruber or Common name Yankee Whiting

    Can anyone please let me know the size limit , bag limit (if any ) on these species please . Been trying to suss them out fer yonks .
    Do believe they are part of the Trag Familly ??..
    Like the Phantom they are known by many names ..

    Not to worry , just got off thr phone with Fisheries and there is no bag or size limit as they arent in the limit list..

    Jesus, I just googled them, they are common in the Bay of Bengal.......

    Yes Noel and found up this way in Queensland ..Used to catch heaps of them years gone by in the mouths of Rivers that may have a deep hole . 5-6" in size but lately we have been catching a few just over the 12" mark .
    Not as nice as your normal Whiting in taste and normally throw them back or cur a few slabs for bait but wanted to know the legalaties of these fish as one cant plead ignorance if pulled over .
    I have had Fisheries politely check my bait so one does have to be on their gaurd.
    Anyway a good chat with Fisheries sorted the question out ..
