    Mass fish kill Caboolture river

Had a mate came back from up past Monty's mariner on Caboolture river & told me the river looked like the pictures of the Darling fish kill
Wall to wall with big dead fish of all type Flathead, Cod, John dory, Grunter Bream, Silver Bream, Mullet, Trevally, & prawns all floating
He rang fisheries & the bloke he spoke with ask was there 1 or 2 fish He didn't seem to concerned The mate stayed yes 1 or 2 Thousand
The mate met another fisher from down near the mouth that had caught a couple of trevally & thru them back as they were so sticky he couldn't get the slime of his hands & they had a bad smell So it sound like all the breeding stock has been wiped out

Caught plenty of large John Dory in the river..

Not good, who knows what has happened but best the authorities try and find out so it may be able to be contained in some way asap!

Not sure Fisheries would be alot if help..

Anyone know what dept would be responsible to report something like this?

Happens every time the weir tops with a sudden burst from a storm.
Saw it in 2011 when the weir topped and a small bore of fresh water and weeds came down in a wave.
5 minutes later all the fish were on the surface trying to get oxygen and dying by the thousands.
Seen it on quite a few other rivers immediately after a fresh surge.
    Jack.

Sometimes when we see things that excite/piss us off, we embellish what was seen, wall to wall, and the size of dinner plates might be just an "approximate" estimate of what was seen, now, that said, and before you throw rocks at me, I wasn't there, didn't know you had a fish called a John Dory that's not a John Dory, so I am just pulling stuff out of my bum! did he take photos?

You would think the news would be all over this, seems like only one person knows about it?
