My old HDS gen one has finally died with a recurring display problem ending in complete death of the unit. Now I was never happy with it as the picture was unclear abound troll speed and the controls clunky.

I’m looking at a new unit on the epithets side of 1k, Id rather it did the simple things well then be loaded with features I don’t need while making it harder to access what I do.
Hull position for the transducer is an issue as it’s a small twin hull so a smaller transducer or a Sutlej good at smoothing out noise from the poor water flow around the transducer would be awesome.

What would the wise heads of the interbrain suggest?

I am very Happy with my Garmin on the dam boat; It does everything, has one transducer that came with it, I just updated the software so it does quick draw mapping. I have Gen2 Lowrence on my inshore glass boat but I like the Garmin.

It does the lot easy to use and you don't have to shell out more for a transducer etc. Around the budget you nominated about a grand.
