    Re: Early Caribbean?

    Very close, but no cigar.
The Ambassador is a longer boat, the windscreen finishes much further aft, the cabin is longer and there are 3 sets of spray chines, not just 2.
I never did find out conclusively what it was, but now having seen the Ambassador specifications, if I were to refurbish an old boat again, I would definitely give it a very close look, as there appears to be no timber in the lay-up.
    Great find.

Hey Steve, please don't think for a moment that I was having a go. You got a lot further than I did.
I can only say conclusively that the boat had a Caribbean sticker on the aft end, either side. I could just make it out, faded into the gelcoat.

I'm really impressed with the Ambassador - In fact I went looking for one last night, but nothing for sale ATM.

My old boat, I was informed, was an early Crest Cutter, but I was never 100% convinced, however I just had a close look at the Crest Cutter ad you posted and it states that it is the MK4 version.
I dare to say that perhaps my old boat was indeed a Mk1...

    Re: Early Caribbean?

There was one ambassador for sale last week for 15000. It was at port Macquarie. I still got the photos I will put here for you.
    When I get home

I think catshark is on the right track, I found a picture of a Caribbean caprice and yes it looks just about identical, I will be back onto Caribbean in the morning to see if we can get some spec sheets on that.
    here is the photo.

Well shot down in flames again by Caribbean, not a caprice, the bow is different.
    I'm stumped.

    Re: Early Caribbean?

Steve, I wouldn't look at that for even $500.
The motor belongs in a meseum, the trailer looks half dead and the boat has seen much much better days. Probably no better than my old boat (the thread starter boat), for which I paid $250 with the motor and trailer.
The earlier one you found is much nicer, you just need to bust him on the price.

    Haha the first one sold
Sorry I thought you were looking for one to do up yourself.

On a happier note look at what I found

Went back to look at the one I was looking at, really nice bloke I might add, his name is grant. Any who, he told me the bloke who sold it to him mentioned something about Keller Craft.
A google search found these pictures straight away._20190308_153820.jpg_20190308_153848.jpg_20190308_153922.jpg

    G'day

For comparison, my old Pongrass, 200hp (thirsty) Johnno. labelled as 5.8m

And I'm tall but not that tall, 6'3 but standing on 10" footstools, liked the wind in my face when driving on decent days
