Nice rig. Be really interested in your thoughts on the Merc once she's run in and some fuel numbers.

Attachment 119966 This is the fuel economy of the engine. I wasnt trying to save fuel on this trip. I just wanted to get there ASAP.

What prop are you running? I'd have thought that your fuel economy would be better. My 225 does 2.3 km/l @ that sort of average speed. Might be worth having a chat to your dealer.

Yes, I'd be looking at that, thought it would be a bit better. Of course, trip average speed is misleading, if it includes slow running before you get on the plane. That's only 17.6 knots average speed. I'm pushing a heavier boat than you, a Caribbean Reef Runner, with a 150 Merc 4-s , so you should be doing better. Here are some dashboard screenshots.

    This is what I call a medium cruise , 4200rpm. (0.8NM/L = 1.48 km/L, 24.3 kn = 45km/hr)

    This is a fast cruise, if I'm in a hurry (1.48 km/l, 48.7km/hr)

This is a more normal cruise. the useage will flick around between 0.9 and 1.0 nm/L (1.76-1.85 km/l) speed 39.45 km/hr)

if I want to slow down to the sort of speeds 17.6kn) you averaged, I'm about the same as the figure quoted by CT above, with his 225 , so our useage is about the same. My smaller motor, working harder, equals his larger motor, working less hard, for economy.

Interesting. Tat is Exactly what i was running on my 150 with the Reefrunner when initially installed. Couldn't really get the revs, topping at 5400-5500, IIRC. (5200-5800 rec)They gave me a 14.5 x 16 to try--same revs exactly, less speed! Went back to the 17, and they then reckoned it was the prop of choice for this motor/hull combination. Forward, and extra gear on the boat meant I was only getting the 5200. So I went with a 15x15 Enertia, gives the results shown above, and peaks at 5650 or so fully loaded.

My revs toppign at topping at 5400-5500 too. I wonder if going smaller prop like you will be better.
