    V17L - engine weight

Hello, I am new to boating and have just purchased a V17l with a 1997 Johnson 130hp on the back.... Apparently the mass of this engine is 197kg... Hobby had the chance to take her out on the water but the question has just popped in my head due to the size of the engine on the back.... Anyone have any thoughts? Much appreciated

I had a mid 1990's Evinrude 140hp from memory the V4 only weighed around 140-160kg i have the E-Tec 130hp that weighes 184kg and that is extra long shaft so i cannot see your engine being 197kg

is the 1997 the beginning o DFI? FICHT possibly?

I would agree with Gazza here, I was running a similar age johnson 130 on a boat I owned years back and it was nearer 160 kg from memory.

Had a 150 hp 2st mercy at one stage and pretty sure it was around 190 + kg. So that sounds a bit high. So apart from weight what is the concern, is the boat not performing as expected.
