I own a US made Kevlacat 2000, almost identical (as far as I can tell) to the original 5.2 meter cat.
She will be getting new pods to hold Suzuki DF90 4 strokes.
Help on the pod sizing is greatly appreciated.

I bought her with those 115´s but one is blown, the powerhead isn´t even there only the leg and cowling cover. I haven't been able to test her with the 115´s.
Tried some Yamaha F70´s I used to have but quickly realized that 20" legs will not work. 25" leg F70 is not available in Panama so I was going to extend the legs but decided that the expense would put me close to the cost of new Suzuki DF90´s so I will be going that route.

About to start cutting some Al plate ... any design ideas are welcome!
Some inspiration:
I like this design because they integrated a swim/step platform. However it is pointless if you are using a mechanical tie bar. It can be useful only if you use a hydraulic "tie bar". The pod has a V on the bottom and diverter plates on the bottom sides.

This design follows the contour of the hull, it has some diverter plates on the bottom and splash plates up top.

I wonder if it is better to have a big step up on the pods or a small step that follows the countour of the hull, similar to a tail rocker on a surfboard.

Finally setteled on a design concept, bent some plate and burned it in. I got some feedback on thehulltruth.com that the legs might be too low.
Will be running Suzuki DF90´s or Yamaha F90B´s ... the 115 in the pic is for mock up only ...

The platform is defenitely too low, going to raise it after a sea trial. Probably over the self bailing door. Still debating wether to raise to floor or not... thinking around 75mm should keep my feet dry ... the boat is floorless right now.
Below you can see the motor on the highest position, might have to lift the pods around 50-70mm or modify the upper part of them

cant see the pics....In post nine , id want pods like the suzuki, followed by the yammie,,, the hondas are very heavy hanging of a small pods (yikes) wonder how it sits in the water ..
Went out on a test run, below is a link for a video.
Things that caught my attention:
CONS
- a lot of bow lift out of the hole
- props start to vent if trimmed past 50% up
- excessive outwards lean on turns and inner prop vents on every single turn
- hard to steer out of a turn
- lean is more noticeable turning to starboart that turning to port, I am guessing it has to to with both engines being standard rotation
PROS
- sustained RPM at cruise
- excellent tracking while going straight
I am only guessing here, but, it looks like the bottom of the pods are too deep, not allowing the water to "rise" after leaving the hull bottom, that's the reason they don't run hull extension type pods, you can mount the motors much higher, but in your case, that's not happening, but the cav plate looks near the surface, so who knows.
We put an 11 degree exit angle, in order to get to the "clean water". Check out the pics. The port engine seems to be a little canted ... gonna get that sorted out and drop it a bolt hole and test again.

Sorry to hijack post but can you explain this Noelm, It was suggested to me prior to a repower that it would be fine to modify the existing 6.2m pods and follow the hull line, the motors are currently in the top holes so was suggested to also raise the pods on the transom
