2016 Tohatsu 2nd hand info

Just looking at purschasing a Tohatsu M40d2 I’ve got a question I’m not sure but this motor looks as though it could be repainted. The leg is a purple style of Colour not black. I’ll stand to be corrected but I thought they’d be black from top to bottom? Any thoughts?

Can't say I have ever seen a purple one, does it look original or repainted?

Cowl is black but leg definitely has a different Colour to it. It looks a factory job but it’s not “black”

bro i bought a 2016 18hp tohy, they are from the factory indigo blue, mate it looked black unless it was in the sun or you looked close.. as u may know tohy build 2 stroke merc up to 40hp i think and the only difference on the production line (same motor0 is the ,merc is black the tohy a very dark indigo blue.

it does look purple, but its classed as a blue. im sure it was indigo they call it. as for the cowl being black im not sure what my cowel was but hey its just the cowl but yeah rest of motor was blue looked purpleish.

even on tohatsu website they look black, but im tellin ya there blue close up and in light, just had a look at tohy website to see where your confusion was comin from and yeah they look black, go to a tohy dealer and look at new engines they should all still be blue close up, its weird i know i said to the dealer in 2016 when i bought my 18me2,, ooo cool its black and he said no its indigo blue look closer or out in the light...

bro im confident i owned 1.. but ring a dealer and ask to be sure,, if its a good motor with a good price they are great donks simple easy cheap to run and go for ever..

I have seen the blue before i think its there under coat colour or some form of marine paint to whitstand corrosion if your seeing this colour on a 2 year old motor its been flogged and thrashed it must be all beatin up, the ones i have seen are older models with the black paint falling off, i had a new tohy 18hp back in 2010 i flushed by the clock and manual but nothing stopped my head gasket on the outside chalking up really bad probably had 15 dips at its best

its meant to be a dark blue, mine did look purple inside out of the sun, if ur worried mate or not sure then dont buy it,
