If you've got a truck license and can afford the $2k rego per year you could do all sorts of stuff. But by the time you have land and or shed to house, pay the rego etc it's still fairly costly and if you have that much coin it's far more convenient to have a boat in a marina. The paradeigm changes.

How long does 2K last renting a marina berth? Presuming you already have shed/land etc to park large truck, the value will increase on the property. Probably not as expensive as one would think but maybe more convenient as you say in a marina. Weigh it up

I'm Townsville it's 15k minimum PA for a marina birth paid 6 months in advance! So there are savings to be had. I have a truck and large trailer boat but have just scraped in under the need truck license threshold (under 2.9m, under 4.5t under 3.8m high) but at one stage I thought I might have to go that way and it made it harder - expensive rego, non retail insurance etc, more road and travel time restictions. I daresay there would be few to bother with the headache that don't already have trucks in a business etc. Certainly would make it harder to sell. I think WA has easier rules? Seems to be some big boats on trailers there.
