G'Day Greg
Long time no see.
Dont pretend to be an expert, but we fish most Sunday's at Somerset.
First the redclaw, haven't had much luck during the day, but have got a good feed of them with a soak overnight.Try down near the cattleyards, Close the the standing timber. Always got a good haul from there.
Depth about 3 to 4 metres. Bait in pots, sweet potato, watermelon ,rockmelon, and sunlight soap.Being Australia Day weekend, be prepared for it to be busy. We launch at Kirkleagh. 3 lane ramp, plenty of parking, but she can be a bitch in prevailing wind.
Havent used bait for ages, but can't beat live shrimp.
Throw a shrimp pot out overnight with sunlight soap, fish frames or raw chicken wings.Depth about 1 to 2 metres, amongst the weed.
One of the best thing about Somerset is, 5 minutes after getting home the boat is in the garage, and I am on the piss. No flushing of motors, or washing down the trailer.
One note of caution, the coppers have been there in force last weekend. ( About Fing time.
Have a ball mate, and tell us how you went .
