    Dollies Today

Headed off the Gold Coast this morning out to a couple of marks to jig some Kingfish but the current was pretty strong and although we marked some good shows had no luck. We then decided to troll in from 80m to 60m and hit some good bait shows and not long after the first Dolphin Fish was onboard after a fairly good aerial fight. We were a bit slow clearing some of the lures and had a tangle that did not help but we got there in the end. This fish fell to a Pink Pakula (one of the 3D printed ones 7 inches long that was furtherest away from the boat ).

After another circuit, we had a second hook up that turned into a comedy of errors as the fish then hooked itself on another lure in the spread so we were fighting it on two lines - we kept our cool and managed to get it into the boat without too much fuss. This fish took the short corner lure which was a Pakula 6 inch in black and purple.

We trolled in closer but there were not fish despite some good bait showing on the sounder. Water temp was around 26 - 26.5 degrees. Nice big feed in the fridge now.

Good effort. We hit wide of goldy Thursday with high hopes of finding kingys or dollies but no joy. Probably due to having no idea where to go and what to look for but hey it was fun all the same. Finished up with 4 flatties out of 65m and that was all she wrote.
