55 hp Mercury seapro
hey guys, just chasing some info on the above motor, all i know is that these motors are are used by commercial fisho's . im assuming there the same powerhead as the 50-60 but it must be tricked up somehow or probably better parts? Can any one share there thoughts/experiences on these motors. cheers

Not exactly sure they are used by pros, or that they have better parts, I think they are just another model in the range, might be Japanese I think (Tohatsu?)

Just a 60 hp that doesn't rev as hard with a big foot gear box and I think usually don't have trim and tilt

Re: 55 hp Mercury seapro
okay bigger gearbox/lower ratio. would this mean that there is low down torque in order to move heavier loads/boat. just puzzles me why they made this HP. done a google search , cant find much except that the carbies are modified to operate at low speeds. l know tohatsu motors are well used by the oyster farmers for there rugged reliability and durability, perhaps this is mercurys offering as a competitor.
