Re: What is the most reliable brand of black swivels,

If you want them to actually swivel - get ball bearing ones. Get the smallest size that at least matches your line class. Even the cheapy ball bearing swivels seem to be well up to the job - the only one I have ever had "fail" didn't let go - just had enough pressure exerted on it to deform the clip while trying to stop a piscatorial submarine with 80lb braid. If you simply want them as a way of joining line to leader, the crane type swivels are fine.

It depends on what you want them for, simple Botton fishing, swivels are like hooks, just almost disposable terminal tackle, hardly worth paying $5-10 each, but for game fishing, where tackle can be pushed to its limits for long periods, then the best quality available are needed, but, they rarely get lost. 15KG line will hardly push almost any semi decent swivel to failure point.

Re: What is the most reliable brand of black swivels,

For trolling, you will likely never lose one, so buy a decent ball bearing swivel that will actually "swivel" don't be tempted to go for very big ones, get smaller sized quality swivels, you will be using some sort of trace that will be attached to your lure or bait rig, so you won't lose expensive swivels.
