    Seeking ideas for hatch latch

Hi, I am seeking your ideas for alternative latching arrangements for the cabin hatch. While the current method is effective, it does tend to leave bruises. Something less damaging to the body is sought. Hopefully picture will be attached.

    Seeking ideas for hatch latch

What about one of those elastic Ute style arrangements. I don’t know what their proper name is.
Would that be secure enough for that hatch ?

Saltwater fishing, boat mad but has a job that gets in the way.

That's an idea to think about, thanks. Would have to consider if was secure enough though as you suggested.

    Seeking ideas for hatch latch

No worries Ron, in your photo the hatch looks long enough so I guess you could have 2 of those hoops to do the task. Given your hatch is out of the elements the elastic will last years. I had some of those elastic hoops on my previous boats cover where it folds over the transom and I replaced a couple. But they were in full sun every day - when it IS sunny here in Melbourne ha ha

It's more the damage from the slotted base, as you are leaning out to manage the anchor etc.

You ca get rubber hatch fasteners, some with T handles others a lever type that latches onto a round insert. Will try and get a photo after the storm passes.

Put the rubber on the hatch and only the clip on the deck.
