Whats $180 compared to the $2000 outlayed for the side scan sounder that you potentially can't read properly? I reckon you would get the equivalent dollar value back within the first few trips. When I get a new rig (eventually) I'll be looking at getting something with side scan, never had any experience with them before so I will be booking a session with Nick the moment it is mounted!

Seahorse I don't use a Lowrance but i'd be happy to take you fishing one fine day and show you what I know.
Im not saying i'm the best at it but I'm happy to show you what I know for free (maybe some fuel / bait money).
In fact I can take 2 guests and would enjoy meeting 2 new people with the same interests..
Just PM me and when the weather is fine one weekend we'll go.

I think seahorse was asking in his original post for fellow Ausfish members to help out with their knowledge and in return compensate the Ausfish member. Reckon that's a great idea and thanks Almako for offering other members the chance.

Mate I would normally head out from Cleveland and fish offshore through the south passage.
Sometimes when the bar is a big swell coming from the north I head out of Scarborough and go around the top of moreton.

I run a JRC sounder. It's old school but I like it.
