Ayr, North Qld - Info wanted

Hi all, so a while ago I posted a thread about Weipa, Cooktown and Bowen. Looks like we might be moving to Ayr as we have gained work there for next yr. Does anyone know what the fishing / diving / spearing is like? How far out are the reefs?

spearing around the front of Cape Upstart, not permitted on the western side. plenty of creek fishing between between Bowen and Townsville. Reefs are a fair way out and can be hit and miss.

great place great fishing and crabbing - need to run wide for reefies although there are some very productive shoals and wonkys in close if your in the know.

no crowds or blow flys on weekends if you know what i mean.
