yamaha saltwater series 175 trim and tilt problem

    Howdy Ausfisher's,

After going through the regular checks on a new to me second hand boat, i have noticed the motor is quite slow and loud on the lift (down is fine). There was a slight seal leak in the centre ram (tilt) which i have had replaced.

I have emptied and refilled the hydraulic fluid, yet it is still slow and oddly loud (sounds like its full of air and struggling to gain pressure). Once the motor is chocked up, i tilt down expecting the trim rams to go down into the housing, nothing..

I have checked battery voltage and hydraulic oil so far with no result, would anyone have an idea what could be causing the issue?

All trim systems are self bleeding

routine to ensure its full of oil is as follows

trim as high as possible, fill reservoir as much as possible use trim switch to get the engine to the very top

once full trim has been obtained, fill reservoir as much as possible

then trim engine fully down and wait 5-15 minutes for air to come to top of oil.
trim engine to very top and wait 5 mins for oil to settle

then trim engine to bottom and wait 5-15 mins

trim engine to top and check oil level

basically follow this routing until you remove all air from system

the reason for waiting is the oil will be aerated and this is usually what makes a trim noisey
